SIEGERT type HYZ hydraulic tongs are driven electrohydraulically. They are made from a robust welded construction. The arms are mounted in a housing and are moved via a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic unit required for this purpose is located on the grab, together with all the necessary wiring. This type of tongs is used when a certain clamping pressure must be achieved in order to grip by frictional contact. The great advantage of hydraulic tongs is their minimal overall height, reduced weight and more compact construction. They also have the edge when it comes to handling, since the tongs do not necessarily have to be set down on the load, as is the case with mechanically-driven tongs.
