The SIEGERT type DOBLOZ double ingot dogs are mechanical tongs for transporting ingots and slabs, even in hot areas. The double ingot dogs have an upper and a lower lifting beam and two ingot grippers. The ingot is held by replaceable, case hardened gripping pawls. The tongs adjust to compensate if the sides of the ingot are not totally parallel. The set-down table and (automatic) stepping mechanism enable the tongs to work fully automatically, and no personnel other than the crane operator are required.
The ingot dogs can also be equipped with an electric hoist for pre-setting the gripping width for a variable gripping depth. The hoist opens and closes the tongs in place of the automatic pick-up mechanism, thus enabling storage space to be optimised.
