The tongs grip by frictional contact and are designed for a friction coefficient of μ = 0.8. The jaws of the tongs have a rubberised textile lining, which prevents damage to the load surface. The structure of the SIEGERT square tongs type GZR is the same as the type GZG, although in this case the jaws are lined with hardened rosettes. These tongs grip by micro-positive contact, which means that they can lift any object, regardless of the surface’s coefficient of static friction, since the rosettes dig firmly into the surface.
